Bespoke Garden Rooms, Garden Offices & Garden Studios

Our Construction Method = More Space

One of the main advantages of our building method is that we can drop the footings and concrete pad to bring them closer to ground level. Taking this approach has many benefits. For instance, it provides a much lower door threshold and maximises floor-to-ceiling space, which makes the room feel more spacious with plenty of headroom. Maximising interior height becomes doubly important when the design must be within permitted development building height regulations.

Another significant benefit of our foundations is that unwelcome visitors cannot make their home under your garden room and cause damage, which is a common problem with other foundation types.

It’s uncommon to need planning permission for a garden room. However, we can advise you at the early stages of your project should the need arise. (Please see our terms and conditions regarding planning permission.)

Room Height

Exterior Garden Room Design

All of our garden rooms are designed especially for you. But, inevitably, we have popular sizes and styles, which can act as a good starting place for more complex designs if required.

Our most popular build is the standard rectangular design with a pent roof that slopes slightly to promote rain run-off. However, this doesn’t meet everyone’s needs. For instance, if you wish to build into an angled corner or prefer an apex roof, we can incorporate these into your design.

The exterior finish can be fibreboard or timber, such as cedar.

We recommend fibreboard because of its robustness and virtually maintenance-free properties. In our opinion, it looks better for longer. Fibreboard can be provided in a contemporary smooth finish or with a realistic grain-like texture, as illustrated above. Another benefit of fibreboard is that, if you wish, you can paint it. Therefore, changing the colour of your garden room becomes possible if you’d like a change in the future.

You can specify natural wood, and it’s popular with those looking for a more Scandinavian look. However, while it does look fabulous, you should consider ongoing maintenance and the reduced warranty you receive with timber cladding.

Decking is a popular option, and this can be of composite or wooden design.

Windows and doors are, as standard, high-quality low-maintenance uPVC units. However, alternatives are available and sometimes necessary if a particular type of door is requested.

Interior Garden Room Design

We will decorate your garden room, ready for you to move in and use immediately; you just need to add furniture. We finish all interior walls and ceilings with taped and skimmed plasterboard, painted in a colour of your choosing.

If you require partitioned areas, we can advise on the most practical ways to use the available space. If you intend to use your garden room as an office or studio, don’t forget to tell us if you have any specific requirements. It’s much easier (and cheaper) to accommodate these at the design stage than make alterations later.

Flooring is generally hard-wearing spill-resistant laminate for its longevity and thermal transfer properties. However, please let us know if you prefer another type of flooring. As standard, we install more suitable flooring in areas that may become wet regularly, for example, shower rooms.
